Part-time
Summary:
Calculates, prepares, delivers and monitors specialized infant formula, modulated infant or pediatric formulas, human milk, tube feedings and medical nutrition supplements.
Answers room service calls, process diet orders and take patient and family food selections for meals; assists in selecting appropriate foods for diet and age.
Adheres to all food safety and sanitation regulations and standards established by regulatory agencies and Akron Children’s Hospital.
Performs inventory management, operates feeding preparation equipment, maintains sanitation in the feeding preparation room(s), performs quality improvement activities, completes temperature/sanitization records and communicates information through various telecommunication modes.
Responsibilities:
Prepares and delivers patient feedings per recipe, registered dietitian nutritionist (RD, RDN) instruction and established protocols.
Uses clinical information systems (including EHR) to update patient human milk, formula, tube feeding and supplement orders, print labels and generate production lists.
Communicates effectively with DTR, RDN or Manager, medical team and patient care areas regarding issues with feeding orders, human milk/formula/tube feeding storage or administration.
Maintains sanitation in preparation and storage areas.
Ensures sanitation of supplies and equipment.
Prepares feedings using aseptic technique.
Assists with product inventory in preparation space and patient care areas throughout the organization.
Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
May answer room service calls, process diet orders and take patient and family food selections for meals; assists in selecting appropriate foods for diet and age.

Technical Experience
Proficiency in math and computation skills is required
Strong problem-solving skills is essential
Experience in Customer Service and effective communication, both written and verbal, is essential
Experience in healthcare is preferred
Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Experience with HER software is preferred.
Education and Experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field is preferred.
Nutrition and dietetics technician, registered (NDTR) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is preferred.
Certification: ServSafe is preferred
Years of relevant experience: 0-2 years is preferred.
