At Fresh Mark, Occupational Health Nurses (Site Nurses) are a member of the Human Resources team, using their nursing skills to provide first-aid in emergency situations and in managing worker's compensation, and other disability and leave programs for the site.
The ideal candidate will have some case management experience to compliment their nursing experience.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities include:
Responds to medical emergencies and provides onsite treatment to sick or injured workers.
Recommends additional or specialized medical treatment when necessary.
Determines the need for referrals to outside health care agencies as needed.
Case management of injuries & illnesses and administration of the workers’ compensation program.
Implement effective return-to-work strategies following work related absences.
Prepare for and attend BWC audits to maintain workers’ compensation self-insurance.
Advise Human Resources on disability issues in the workplace (FMLA, ADA, Modified duty).
Maintain recordkeeping and reporting requirements (OSHA 300 Log, Summary Logs, etc.
) and confidentiality of employee health records.
Manage medical requirements and the required health programs/assessments for specific programs (hearing protection, HAZWOPER and maintenance physicals, respirator fit-testing, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, etc.
) to ensure medical programs are compliant.
Oversee the Drug Free/Substance Abuse Program for pre-employment, post-accident and reasonable suspicion.
Manage claim determination process.
Requirements
Registered nurse (RN) designation.
Ability to administer medical aid in emergency situations.
Ability to work in high pressure situations and remain calm in medical emergencies.
Extensive knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
Preferred candidates will have hands on experience with FMLA, WC and Leave and Disability case management, paperwork, and documentation -OR-case management and reporting experience.
Experience managing safety and workers comp in a manufacturing environment a plus.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
English/Spanish bi-lingual a strong plus
