We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.
What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest intern in the Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM), working at our Northeast District Office (NEDO).
An internship and a learning opportunity: As an Ohio intern, you will learn about DMWM’s programs, including fieldwork to support the division’s mission.
By participating in Ohio EPA’s College Intern program, you will receive training in aspects both in-office and in-the-field activities involved in the materials and waste management program and receive orientation to all program areas.
During the internship, you will receive training from technical staff on scrap tire management and educational tools, and then locate and visit businesses that generate scrap tires and deliver the educational information following DMWM’s outreach program.
You will also identify businesses for assigned areas and perform site visits to share resources and information with business representatives.
Additionally, you will help division staff with the review of explosive gas plans and other landfill reports, as well as preparing reports and other technical documents.
You will also perform field work, including explosive gas sampling and ground water sampling at landfills, beneficial use and compost site observations, and facility construction oversight.
Lastly, you will assist with the updating of files and tabulating information needed for administrative reports requested by central office, outside agencies, or citizens.
A review of the high points: Participate in the Ohio EPA College Intern program by learning about DMWM’s programs, including fieldwork to support the division’s mission.
Receive training in aspects of office and in-the-field activities involved in the materials and waste management program.
