SUMMARY/ PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Aultman Medical Physicist will provide radiation physics services within the Radiation Therapy Department at Aultman Hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS Therapeutic radiation physics support shall be provided by physicists holding at least a M.
S.
degree in Radiation Biophysics, Medical Physics or an equivalent degree.
All therapeutic radiation physicists shall be certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiation Physics or working towards certification upon becoming eligible to take the certification examination.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS – colleague must be able to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
The Medical Physicist CRE will have oversight of other medical physics professionals inside the radiation oncology department.
Quality assurance on equipment related to the delivery of external beam radiation, brachytherapy and related equipment and instruments.
This includes review and/or performance of QA tests on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis as required by American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) protocols and ODH.
Performs commissioning of new equipment as required within the department.
Perform calibrations on equipment related to the delivery of external beam radiation and brachytherapy.
Calibrations are required for some instruments at an Accredited Dosimetry Calibration Laboratory (ADCL).
Provide consultation regarding regulations and notices required by the State of Ohio and federal agencies and advise on postings, registration and license requirements.
Check treatment charts on a weekly basis including all information related to physics and dosimetry and new starts.
Perform all brachytherapy treatment planning and other physics duties related to brachytherapy including HDR and prostate seeds.
Approve all QA and HDR performed by physics assistant.
Provide consultation to physicians, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, administrators, nurses and other related personnel in the Radiation Therapy Department as needed.
Attend Radiation Safety Committee and Radiation Quality Assurance meetings.
Act in the capacity of CRE for radiation therapy as required by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
Exhibits High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools and tones.
Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues and dosimetry students.
The radiation therapy CRE shall be responsible for providing all required information, procedures, etc.
to Aultman Hospital’s RSO and IRRP in final written form to include the radiation therapy/oncology information in the materials submitted to ODH (on behalf of Aultman Hospital) in comprehensive documents as required for the single ODH Nuclear Materials License and X-ray Certification of Registration maintained by Aultman pursuant to ODH regulations.
SKILLS Proficient computer skills to complete tasks as required.
Must be organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks and exhibit appropriate time management skills.
Must be detail oriented while focusing on safe practices and quality care.

Cross training depending upon department needs.
Work 8-10 hours a day.
Worked hours are variable to volume of department.
On call coverage is assigned to cover department schedule.
Staff may be assigned to different locations within the foundation.
