SUMMARY OF POSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care and coordinate hospital activities between all departments during off shift hours.
The Registered Nurse Off Shift Coordinator will work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act for RN’s.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS Performs and documents patient assessments, planning, interventions and evaluations of outcomes in a timely manner while maintaining a confidential patient record.
Administers medications safely according to the five rights of medication administration and assesses patient response to treatments.
Determines a plan of care according to each patient’s individual need and incorporates family members into the plan of care.
Revises the plan of care according to the patient’s response.
Formulates an education plan based on identified learning needs of the patient/family and evaluates the effectiveness of learning.
Utilizes electronic medical record and other computerized programs for documentation of care and completion of daily tasks.
Treats patient/family with respect and dignity.
Identifies and addresses psychological, social, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of the patient/family.
Assists with the day-to-day phone calls, questions, concerns and/or orders from family members, clients or physicians.
Available to personnel for routine questions, concerns and problems.
Responds to patient/family complaints.
Collaborates with Security Officer.
Coordinates staffing/lunch breaks.
Coordinates bed management.
Liaison to the Nursing Manager and Manager On-Call.
Facilitate management of environmental/maintenance concerns.
Routine rounding in all departments (twice per shift is preferable).
Assist with all Hospital Codes (Red, Blue, Yellow, etc.
).
Restraint resource.
Assists with scheduling of off shift surgeries.
Acquisition of additional patient supplies (storeroom/surgery/dietary).
Informs the Unit Director of any significant problems or concerns.
Assists with education and competency validation of personnel as appropriate.
Performs chart audits and collects quality data as assigned.
Consistently communicates with all patients, families, customers and other personnel in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.
Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of the hospital and responds positively to changes in workflow.
Promotes teamwork by demonstrating willingness to assist others in meeting the needs of all individuals and collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team and other departments throughout the organization.
Complies with agency infection control and safety policies.
Consistently communicates requests, suggestions, concerns or problems to the appropriate personnel.
Consistently maintains a professional appearance.
Maintains Aultman standards of confidentiality, including the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio BSN preferred (agrees to receive BSN within 5 years of hire) BLS; ACLS; PALS, NRP, and/or TNCC (in some clinical areas) Subject to background check and fingerprinting All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
WORKING CONDITIONS: 8 or 12 hour shifts; days, afternoons, nights; weekends and holidays; overtime based on a 40 hour work week On-call based on unit specific need Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours Hazardous Exposure Category – I – tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM O = Occasionally = 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
C = Constantly = 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
