DRB Systems is a growing and vibrant software company in need of a Principal Engineer with C#, SQL, and full stack web development experience with an emphasis on the backend.
DRB Systems (“DRB”) is the leading provider of technology-enabled devices and software solutions to the North American car wash industry.
As a Principal Engineer you will own the architecture, design, code, optimization, and code quality for the web applications, SQL queries, and support utilities.
You will create and maintain documentation and architecture diagrams for the code and systems.
You will be responsible for the design and specification of new features, taking them from requirements to development tasks.
Essential Functions:
Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:
Lead the ongoing technical evolution of the existing portfolio of applications and services.
Design, develop, modify, implement, and support software components anywhere in the Software stack.
Lead the team in task planning, estimation, risk assessment, and assist the project manager with scheduling.
Implement quality code according to DRB’s approved software development methods and be responsible for the team following the guidelines.
Submit code for and lead the team in regular code reviews focusing on architecture, efficiency, styles and standards, and functionality.
Meet stated milestone dates and deadlines.
Document and demonstrate solutions with text documents, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
Work with other departments such as QA and customer support on escalated technical issues.
Determine root cause for the most complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
Perform unit level test code for quality and functionality.
Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Be the technical lead for the product and be a mentor to colleagues.
Lead the continuous improvement and efficiency in feature development.
Qualifications and Requirements:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
15+ years of experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility in complex systems and engineering environments or 10+ years and the ability to demonstrate mastery level in the requirements listed.
Ability to perform DevSecOps roles in an AWS environment, preferably as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
Experience with development containers.
Experience in database design, including 3rd normal form, indexing strategies, and using Microsoft SSMS.
Understanding of data retention policies and how to implement them.
Experience in optimizing SQL queries.
Understanding of tradeoffs in query design.
Experience in Windows OS/Server, version control software (knowledge of Azure DevOps & Git preferred), revision control software, and Microsoft Office
AWS experience with setting up an AWS environment including lambda functions, security, EC2 instances, S3 buckets, firewalls, and running databases in an AWS environment.
Working knowledge of Terraform or CloudFormation.
Proven ability to manage work in an Agile development environment.
Proficient with writing web applications using C#, JavaScript, HTML+CSS.
Understanding and ability to setup and use CI/CD systems for web applications.
Experience setting up a web-based application architecture for expandability, flexibility, and ability to test.
Experience in designing and writing REST API’s.
Strong ability to implement systems in a secure way.
Ability to set up secure systems and recognize security vulnerabilities across the entire stack.
Preference for people with PCI compliance knowledge.
Excellent knowledge of software architecture including experience with OO design, data modeling, database interaction, performance profiling, and unit testing.
Proven ability to document work and lead by example on efficient documentation strategies that allow other developers to easily understand the purpose of the code.
