Location: Twinsburg, Ohio
Safran is looking for an experienced software engineer to join the Twinsburg conversion team, where the candidate will be working with others on the entire development life cycle for embedded software.
The software has a key role in ensuring that aircraft electric power systems remain safe and reliable.
In this role, the senior software engineer uses their knowledge of the embedded environment, the aircraft application, design assurance processes and aerospace industry trends to build reliability into each product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Complete development lifecycle of the embedded software.
•Software architecture and target selection.
•Requirements authoring, reviewing and tracing.
•Software authoring and reviewing.
•Study of the operational requirements for the software target.
•Debugging software in an embedded environment.
•Authoring of development plans to meet industry-standard guidance.
•Analysis, disposition and closure of problem reports.
•Validation and verification of software requirements.
•Support of audits by customers and government authorities.
•Provide leadership to teams working on the development lifecycle.
•Provide foresight of schedule overruns.
•Incorporate improvements to the development process
•Interface to functions including Program Management, Quality Assurance, Hardware Development, and Configuration Management.
This position requires access to technologies and hardware subject to US national security based export control requirements.

Job requirements
Required Qualifications:
•8+ years of combined experience in embedded software development.
•Development with design assurance guidance, such as DO-178 or IEC 61508.
•Extensive knowledge of C language development.
•Experience working with version control tools and concepts.
•Detailed understanding of a variety of microcontroller architectures and operational principles.
•Experience with lifecycle management tools, including requirements, tracing, validation and verification, and problem reporting.
•Proficient written and spoken communication, including explanations of detailed technical concepts.
•Experience debugging embedded systems with simulations or within the target.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•Experience with unit testing.
•Able to sustain software development for projects ranging 3 – 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
•A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in electrical, computer, software engineering or computer science.
•Familiarity with MISRA C standards.
•Experience with using an embedded RTOS environment.
•Understanding of principles of motor control.
•Understanding of principles of power electronics.
•Able to prepare presentations and lead audits.
•Capable of reading schematics.
•Able to work on the development of electrical power systems for military aircraft used internationally.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This person will be the technical lead on a team.
Responsible to develop and implement a plan to complete programs.
