The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems, components, and products.
The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet functionality, reliability, and cost requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Create innovative mechanical designs for products or systems, considering factors such as function, cost, manufacturability, and ease of maintenance.
Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce detailed 3D models, and technical drawings of components or assemblies.
Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and product managers to integrate mechanical designs into overall product development.
Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and reports for designs, test procedures, and results.
Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and performance improvement through analysis and iteration.
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) for designing and creating detailed 3D models and drawings.
Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
5 or more years’ experience in Finite Element Analysis.
5 or more years’ experience in Machine design.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Effective communication skills for presenting ideas, concepts, and reports.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to lifting devices.
Experience in providing technical support to Sales teams, and ability to communicate technical information to customers.
Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (required).
Machine design experience (required)
Weldment design experience (required)
Assembly design experience (required)
FEA experience (required)
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
