Job Purpose:
This position will assist in the deployment and operational excellence of operating systems environments.
This will involve technical operations, operating system administration, and hardware/software support for computer systems.
This position is potentially comprised of multiple shifts that might cover support functions on a 24*7*365 basis.
Responsibilities primarily consist of operating systems support, but could also include standard application suites that run on the platform.
In general, the operating systems that will be supported consist of industry-standard platforms (Microsoft, Unix, Linux,) This role will also include team leadership and mentoring of team members.
Essential Functions:
Server Management 40%
Add/remove Unix/Windows users, groups, - file permissions
Server lifecycle management (installation, repair, replace, retire)
Deploy required virus updates
Provide timely installation of required patches as requested
Maintain SW/HW inventory
Manage physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers and applications Maintain day-to-day operations of Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, Exchange, Citrix, SharePoint, Storage, VMware ESX servers, and Hyper-V
Escalation of resolution of complicated incidents and problems
Application Support - 40%
Manage application installation and deployment
Testing and documentation of new deployments
Application testing on new platforms
Project Implementation - 20%
Design and Architecture of systems deployment
Testing and custom configurations
Project plan development and execution
Education:
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
MCSE - Microsoft (Required)
Network+ Certification - Preferred
ITIL Foundations - (required)
Relevant Work Experience:
2 to 4 years in related field
Server and Cloud Operations in a major Enterprise environment
Design and deployment of a large complex enterprise environment
Strong knowledge of server and storage hardware architecture and systems
Experience with system hardware in a design, development, test, or equivalent role that requires detailed analysis and debug of issues, leading to root cause identification and resolution
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Analytical skills and the ability to solve technical problems
Working knowledge of hardware and software platforms, vendors, and products
Teamwork, - time management skills
Project management skills and experience in organizing, planning, and executing information systems projects
Software development skills in C++, Java, Perl, CGI, xTML variants or other web and internet application
supporting languages a plus
Good customer contact skills
