Responsibilities:
Supervises and directs production activities with the highest regard for the safety and health of personnel
Maintains a safe and clean workplace by leading safety initiatives and promoting safe behaviors of others
Directs work activities of Production Team Leader and staff to maximize shift efficiency
Establishes and achieves production goals for shift in alignment with overall Plant objectives
Facilitates daily pre-shift meetings to share information regarding production, quality, safety, and/or policy concerns
Ensures efficient operation of production equipment based on production schedule and process specifications (i.
e.
correct resin, additives, packaging, line speed, temperature); maintains product quality though established quality systems to ensure conformance to standards; escalates concerns to Quality Manager for review as needed
Monitors raw material usage and inventory; ensures efficient utilization of materials to minimize waste and production downtime
Motivates and coaches staff to address scrap, quality, safety, and/or production issues in a timely manner
Performs preliminary troubleshooting of equipment and process malfunctions; escalates concerns to Maintenance staff for resolution
Completes entry of shift production reporting; reviews reports for accuracy
Determines staffing needs to ensure adequate production coverage; utilizes labor efficiently to achieve optimal production
Daily maintenance of time keeping and attendance tracking for shift
Ensures proper training and development of staff; works with Human Resources and/or Production Manager to identify training needs
Oversees performance management activities including performance reviews, rewards, and disciplinary actions; maintains appropriate documentation
Partners with EHS Coordinator and/or Management to identify and resolve safety hazards
Conducts preliminary investigation of safety incidents and complete incident reporting in a timely manner
Communicates with other Production counterparts and/or Management regarding production concerns
Observes all Plant safety, quality, and production policies
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
5+ years manufacturing experience (minimum 2 years lead experience required)
Blown film extrusion or film converting experience preferred
Ability to utilize a variety of computer software
Ability to organize and prioritize activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 pounds repetitively
Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop and/or kneel continuously
Ability to work overtime, extended shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as scheduled
Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Company guidelines
Strong verbal and writing skills
Ability to lead and motivate others
Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with others
