The role of the Pipefitter consists of the installation, repairing and maintaining of all pipelines (air, water, steam, gas), valves, pumps and ancillary equipment pertaining to this work throughout the facility.
Job Core Responsibilities Installation to some extent of insulating coverings for pipelines, valves, fittings, heaters, miscellaneous tanks and objects.
The cutting, threading, bending, filing, burring, reaming and installation of all pipes and fittings may be required.
Installation of pipe hangers by means of clamps and other brackets to meet specifications.
Candidate must provide personal hand tools under 18”, i.
e.
, wrenches, hammers, scales, rulers, chisels, files, screwdrivers, combination wrenches, hacksaw, pliers, etc.
.
Specialty or larger tools will be provided by the company.
Must be physically able to make light and occasional heavy lifts.
The working environment will present contact with oils, grease, dirt that are common to the job.
Proper PPE will be required.
Some climbing of structural components and on equipment will be required.
All aspects of safety shall be observed in the course of all work including proper use of required PPE.
Hourly Union position that requires the ability to work any shift, based on seniority.
Job Specifications Education & Experience: Journeyman Pipefitter certification from a recognized trade/industrial educational program, or eight (8) years documented Pipefitter work experience.
Skills: Must be able to assimilate to shop practices and plant layouts.
Must possess a working knowledge of all types of pipes, fittings, fasteners, to make layouts required on this work.
Must possess a working knowledge and ability to utilize pipe fitting tools such as pipe cutters, tapes, dies, files, benders and motorized pipe threading/cutting machines.
Strong mechanical aptitude is desired with the ability to read and interrupt mechanical and structural drawings, blueprints and sketches.
The ability to layout and assemble projects per engineered specification.
Must work to construction specifications as required from blue prints, sketches as well as verbal and/or written instructions.
Must be able to determine and utilize the proper equipment and tools required for lifts of motors, pumps, pipes and other items for installation and/or removal from service.
Equipment inspection and troubleshooting of hydraulic circuits, pneumatic circuits and pressurized lines and service of same will be required to insure proper operation.
Operation of aerial lift equipment, scissor lift, and fork lift will be required after certification.
