At BWXT, our interns perform challenging tasks in their field of study while developing and delivering unique solutions for use in a nuclear component environment.
A BWXT internship not only provides valuable on the job training but allows you to be a part of something bigger!
BWXT offers paid internships along with a housing stipend for those interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from Barberton, OH.
Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks.
At the end of the internship, each intern has the opportunity to present their completed work/ assigned projects to the leadership team.
As part of your internship experience in Operations you will be working on projects and tasks directly related to maintaining and improving the manufacturing processes at BWXT.
Our interns work collaboratively as part of our team.
Responsibilities
5S or area organization
Layout of work cells/areas
Create Process Maps or assist with task (skill dependent), work flow
Work cell optimization, basic equipment needs identification
Interface with Tooling on needs, i.
e.
fixtures, cutters/inserts
Job set up preparation
Process improvement
Equipment condition evaluation, creation of Preventative Maintenance schedules
Equipment specification, justification, procurement
Safety evaluations of existing set ups and proposed, interface with Safety Department as required
Basic data collection and analysis, report creation as needed
Track and potentially assist with training, items not within the Training Department scope
Equipment/machinery load studies, scheduling impacts
Requirements
Consideration will be given to individuals with education in the following, 2 year or 4-year degree programs:
Operations Management or similar
Industrial Engineer or Tech
Mechanical Engineer or Tech
Students must be at a sophomore standing or above at the time the internship begins
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.
0 or higher
US citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position
Preference will be given to students who have also completed coursework or hands on experience in Operations, Operations Management, factory layout or work cell design, fabrication, welding, machining, Statics, Mechanics of Materials, and/or Solid Modeling.
